Travel RN Job Details

- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, approximately 36 hours per week
- Shift: Night shifts, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratio: 1:3
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience required
- Unit Size: Approximately 12 beds with an average daily census of 12 patients
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; scrubs are not provided
Registered Nurse Travel Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a compact state
- At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience, preferably in a cardiac stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, progressive care, or similar acute-care setting
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent Epic charting experience
- Ability to manage a 1:3 patient assignment in a high-acuity intermediate care environment
- Willingness to float as needed and work every other weekend
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for adult and geriatric cardiac stepdown patients
- Provide telemetry monitoring and recognize and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms and patient condition
- Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, cardiac angiography, myocardial infarction, and cardiac surgery
- Manage central line, PICC, chest tube, tracheostomy, feeding tube, and peripheral IV care
- Administer blood products, insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and non-titrated cardiac or vasoactive infusions according to unit standards
- Provide respiratory support, including oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and CPAP management
- Interpret relevant laboratory findings, including arterial blood gases, and promptly escalate concerns
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, including respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and social services, to coordinate safe and effective patient care
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and activate rapid response or code resources when indicated
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
