Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a valid compact-state license
• At least 1 year of experience in cardiac stepdown, telemetry, medical-surgical, or a related nursing specialty
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Ability to complete required orientation and clinical competency validations
• Strong patient assessment, communication, delegation, and clinical decision-making skills

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for assigned cardiac stepdown and telemetry patients using the nursing process
• Perform patient assessments, identify nursing diagnoses, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Deliver routine and complex patient care while responding effectively to changing patient conditions and clinical needs
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions
• Monitor patients for changes in cardiac and overall clinical status and communicate concerns promptly
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, assessments, interventions, and care provided accurately
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Assess learning needs and provide clear education to patients, family members, and caregivers
• Delegate appropriately and collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to promote safe, efficient patient care
