Contract | 3x12-Hour Night Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | Expected 36 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity, fast-paced cardiac and stroke unit with patient ratios of 1:5–6, with the expectation of comfortably managing up to 6 patients during surge
• Care for stable pre- and post-procedure cardiac patients including those with pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, and uncomplicated interventional peripheral vascular procedures
• Manage and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, and other vasoactive medications; experience with PCI required
• Monitor and manage patients presenting with unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA/TIA, and low-risk chest pain via continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry
• Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, Dimensions (EPIC), and SBAR communication framework
• Participate in on-call rotation, float assignments, and weekend requirements (every other weekend; 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per 6-week period)

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a cardiac stepdown or similarly high-acuity setting with comparable patient ratios and acuity levels
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
• Required skills: IV insertion, telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management, and PCI experience
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation (36-hour orientation total)
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are welcome to apply; a local pay rate will apply

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers will be considered)
• Experience with high patient-turnover environments; this unit typically turns over 78–90 patients per week
• Familiarity with Bipap (chronic use only), non-rebreather masks (palliative only), and high-flow oxygen with stable O2 saturation
• Experience caring for COVID-positive patients on opti-flow or Bipap during surge conditions
