Cardiac Stepdown Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Thomasville, Georgia

Join a high-acuity cardiac progressive care team as a Travel Registered Nurse in Thomasville, Georgia. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers experienced cardiac stepdown and telemetry nurses the opportunity to care for adult and geriatric patients in a 24-bed unit with supportive interdisciplinary resources and an approximately 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Job Title: Cardiac Stepdown Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Thomasville, Georgia
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Assignment: 13 weeks, with possible extension
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Unit: Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
• Charting: Cerner EMR
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
• Orientation: 12 hours

Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• At least 3 years of recent cardiac stepdown, progressive care, PCU, or telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Recent experience with Cerner or a comparable electronic medical record system
• Intermediate to advanced telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Experience starting and maintaining peripheral IVs
• Competency with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, central lines, PICCs, chest tubes, blood products, and cardiac drips
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, wound care, and rapid response procedures
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Royal blue scrubs required

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients throughout the night shift
• Monitor telemetry, identify changes in cardiac rhythms, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for adult and geriatric patients
• Manage post-cardiac catheterization and post-angiogram care, including TR band monitoring when applicable
• Administer medications and manage cardiac, vasoactive, insulin, and heparin protocols according to unit guidelines
• Perform central line, PICC, peripheral IV, chest tube, feeding tube, tracheostomy, and wound care
• Support patients requiring oxygen therapy, noninvasive airway management, BiPAP/CPAP, or high-flow nasal cannula
• Recognize and escalate signs of patient deterioration while collaborating with rapid response, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and other interdisciplinary teams
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Cerner
• Promote a collaborative, patient-centered care environment
