Cardiac Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of professional Registered Nurse experience
• Recent experience caring for cardiac patients in an acute-care or diagnostic setting
• Strong EKG interpretation and cardiac assessment skills
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Ability to demonstrate sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, and effective interpersonal communication
• Comfort providing care to both adult and pediatric patients
• Ability to complete required screening and comply with a drug-free workplace policy

Cardiac RN Responsibilities

• Assess patients before cardiac testing and review medical histories, medications, and current clinical status
• Supervise and support cardiac stress testing procedures
• Initiate IV access and administer cardiac medications as ordered during testing
• Interpret EKGs and recognize changes requiring prompt clinical intervention
• Provide continuous cardiac monitoring during testing and respond appropriately to emergencies
• Document patient information and testing details accurately in EPIC and electronic case management systems
• Coordinate care with cardiologists, cardiology fellows, nuclear medicine, echocardiography, and pulmonary function testing teams
• Deliver safe, compassionate care to inpatient and outpatient cardiac patients
