Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | Three 12-hour shifts per week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Heart and Vascular unit, including stepdown (1:3 ratio) and floor-level (1:6 ratio) assignments
  • Care for post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients including CABG, valve replacements, LVAD, heart transplants, TAVRs, AAA repair, CEA, and femoral bypass
  • Manage cardiology patients presenting with STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, and those undergoing procedures such as cardiac cath, stent placement, ICD implantation, ablations, and pacemaker insertion
  • Titrate and manage drips including heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and dobutamine
  • Collaborate with cardiac monitor technicians (CMTs) who interpret telemetry strips on the unit, as well as charge nurses and house supervisors available 24/7
  • Float as needed to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute; adhere to every-other-weekend and holiday scheduling requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current BLS certification (unexpired)
  • Current ACLS certification (unexpired)
  • Demonstrated cardiac and/or vascular nursing experience
  • Proficiency in titrating drips in a stepdown or critical care environment
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience caring for post-operative cardiac surgery patients including complex cases
  • Familiarity with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
  • Prior travel nursing experience in a cardiac or vascular setting
