Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown / CVU

Omaha, NE

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Shifts: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM or 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM (nights); every other weekend required

• Provide intermediate-level cardiac and vascular nursing care for patients including those downgraded from the CVICU
• Titrate drips including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, cardizem, and other blood pressure management medications
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes hardwired tele and tele box capabilities with remote tele tech support
• Support patients associated with the thoracic program, EP lab, cath lab, and structural heart program
• Manage common diagnoses including CHF, A-fib with RVR, CVAs, and other cardiac and vascular conditions
• Float to units of same or lower acuity levels as needed

• Active RN licensure
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a cardiac stepdown or equivalent patient population
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a score of 90% or higher during orientation

• Experience supporting thoracic surgery, electrophysiology, or structural heart patient populations
• Familiarity with BiPAP and CPAP respiratory equipment in a cardiac care setting
• Prior experience in a unit with 1:3–1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios

• Work alongside a well-supported team including charge nurses, patient care techs, respiratory therapy available 24/7, and in-house hospitalist and intensivist coverage
• Gain experience in a dynamic cardiac unit with an 18-bed department supporting a broad range of complex cardiac and vascular diagnoses
