Key Responsibilities
Provide intermediate-level cardiac nursing care for patients including post-surgical, downgraded CVICU, CHF, A-fib RVR, CVA, cath lab, and thoracic program patients
Titrate drips including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, cardizem, and other blood pressure management medications
Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes remote tele techs with hardwired and tele box capabilities
Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, with 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours
Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, and on-call cardiology to deliver comprehensive patient care
Float to units of the same or lower acuity level as needed
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure
Minimum 1 year of experience with cardiac stepdown or similar patient population
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
Current NIHSS certification
Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a score of 90% or higher during orientation
