Schedule / Job TypeContract | 7-Week Assignment | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | 48 Guaranteed Hours Per Week | Every Other Weekend and Every Other Holiday Required
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
- Manage a high-acuity, fast-paced patient population including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defibrillation, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and med/surg overflow cases such as DKA, COPD exacerbation, and respiratory failure
- Administer and monitor vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin
- Float to all inpatient units as needed based on census demands
- Complete accurate and timely electronic charting using EPIC
- Interpret and respond to continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring
Required Qualifications- Active Wisconsin RN License
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience in a Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU setting
- Minimum 2 years of IMC, PCU, or Telemetry experience
- Demonstrated experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin drips (required to advance in the interview process)
- Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience
- At least one prior travel nursing assignment completed
- Must pass an EKG competency test during the first week of assignment
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience managing post-operative cardiac surgical patients including CABG, valve repair, and thoracotomy
- Ability to work independently, manage change effectively, and complete tasks in a high-turnover environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to integrate quickly into a team-oriented unit culture
