Job Opportunity – Cardiac Telemetry / Step-Down Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignment available. Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step-down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients. Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling).

Highlights:

  • Cardiac telemetry and progressive care unit serving adult and geriatric populations with complex cardiac and vascular conditions
  • Comprehensive case mix including post-cardiac cath, cardiac surgeries (CABG, valve replacements, TAVR), thoracic procedures, and vascular surgeries
  • Epic EMR documentation system with 24 hours of paid orientation
  • Interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services
  • Manage patients with cardiac drips, chest tubes, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and non-invasive airway support
  • Float rotation follows unit schedule; contract staff not first to float

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/step-down care, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with cardiac drips (including titration), chest tube management, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP), and post-cardiac procedure care
  • Travel nursing experience preferred (required for candidates with less than 24 months cardiac experience)
  • Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience preferred
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as needed
