Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignments available. Patient ratio approximately 1:6 based on acuity. Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling).
Highlights:
- Cardiac telemetry and progressive care unit serving a 44-bed unit with diverse cardiovascular patient population
- Experience with advanced cardiac procedures including post-CABG, TAVR, Watchman, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology patients
- Comprehensive orientation with 24 hours of structured onboarding
- Epic charting system with full interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory, rapid response, and specialty services
- Manage cardiac drips with titration, chest tubes, sheath removal, and non-invasive airway support
- Storm team/hurricane team participation required as part of disaster preparedness protocols
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac floor experience required
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must successfully pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, step-down/PCU care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath removal, cardiac drip management and titration, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway support
- Experience with post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and cardiovascular surgical patients
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Arterial line management experience
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- Previous charge nurse experience
- Epic charting system familiarity
Patient Population:
- Adult and geriatric patients with cardiovascular diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, and vascular conditions
- Post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, carotid endarterectomy, and vascular surgeries
- Post-procedural care for cardiac catheterization, cardioversion, electrophysiology studies, and pacemaker placements
