Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients. Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling).Highlights:- Cardiac progressive care unit specializing in post-surgical cardiac and thoracic patients, with comprehensive telemetry monitoring- Care for diverse patient population including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, vascular surgeries, and cardiac catheterization procedures- Epic charting system with 24-hour orientation period provided- Interdisciplinary team support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and specialized services- Float assignment follows unit rotation; not first to float- Manage patients with complex cardiac conditions including post-MI, dysrhythmias, heart failure, and cardiac surgical recoveriesRequirements:- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac floor experience required- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of cardiac experience- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, stepdown/progressive care, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management- Experience with cardiac drips (management and titration), chest tubes, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP), and post-cardiac catheterization care- Preferred: Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac experience, and charge nurse experienceWhy It's a Great Opportunity:This position offers the chance to work with a high-acuity cardiac patient population in a well-supported progressive care environment.
