Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience Skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT Description: This position is for a CVICU Registered Nurse. The unit consists of 16 beds with patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:1 for certain device patients. A free-floating charge nurse assists the staff. Unit secretaries and Administrative Care Techs are available Monday through Friday. Student Nurse Externs assist nurses by performing tech duties on variable shifts. The unit is equipped with Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps. Documentation is completed using Meditech. Nurses are required to work 2 weekends per month and 1 summer holiday. They are also expected to work 2 winter holidays. Employees float to other ICU units as needed, which may include other floors. There are no specific patient experience requirements. The unit provides care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those on ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADs. Nurses are expected to perform procedures such as central line insertion, Swan insertion, and intubations. The unit includes an intensivist who is assigned 24/7.
