Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Critical Care experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Management of vasoactive medications Knowledge of various surgical drains Experience with chest tubes and ventilators Familiarity with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) Management of invasive lines, including arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, and transvenous pacemakers Experience with invasive devices, including Intra-aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP) and Impella (flexible on devices are strongly preferred) Description: The position is for an RN specializing in Cardiovascular Intensive Care. The unit has 14 private rooms, including two negative pressure rooms. Patient types include STEMI (unstable), cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and thoracic surgery cases. Common surgical procedures involve CABG, valve surgeries, and dissections. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2. The charge nurse may or may not have patient assignments. Support within the department includes a respiratory therapy team available 24/7 and intensivists present 24/7. Technology used includes Epic for electronic medical records, Alaris IV pumps, and Phillips monitors. Floating may occur within the designated region and scope of practice if needed. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Weekend rotations are required every other week. Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays, with up to 6 days off approved excluding holidays. Shift times alternate between 0645-1915 and 1845-0715 on a six-week schedule cycle. The standard uniform color is navy. This role requires strong critical care skills and the ability to manage complex patient needs effectively.
