Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an ICU setting License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Experience in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) - Experience in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) - Experience in Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias - Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure Description: The position requires managing post-cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients. Candidates will provide care for patients who have undergone heart and liver transplants. Proficiency in ECMO support (both VV and VA) is essential. Responsibilities include monitoring a 6-bed recovery unit with procedures happening Monday through Friday. Nurses will assist in central line placements for temporary needs. Experience with Impella and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) is necessary. Involvement in continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is expected. Candidates must be prepared to float between departments and units as required. The role requires managing patient care related to respiratory issues, including ventilator management. The ability to assess and monitor intake and output is critical. Nurses should have the skills to manage blood product administration and central line care. Understanding of infection prevention and isolation precautions is necessary. Experience with procedural sedation and emergency medications is required. Candidates will need to provide care for ventilated patients and tracheostomy management. The role demands a strong knowledge of arterial blood gas interpretation. Regular weekend shifts are part of the schedule, with 8 shifts required every 6 weeks. A commitment to maintaining a high standard of patient care is expected.
