Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in CVICU preferred License: Valid state or compact nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: - 22 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred - Epic experience required - Previous travel experience preferred Description: Weekdays and some weekends required. Rotating holidays included. Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level. Estimated patient ratios of 1:1. Must have experience with IV starts, telemetry, ventilators, Swan Ganz catheters, and conscious sedation. Experience with balloon pumps and pulmonary artery lines is necessary. Candidates must also have experience in ECMO. The unit cares for cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular patients, including post-cardiac surgery patients. Patient populations include those recovering from CABG, valve repair, TAVR, heart transplant, and ECMO. Special procedures may involve dealing with low cardiac output syndromes, stroke, renal impairment/failure, diabetes mellitus, pulmonary embolism, pneumonia, sepsis, and GI bleeding. Familiarity with total artificial hearts, ventricular assist devices, and hemodynamic monitoring is important. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services. The daily census is approximately 28 patients with a total of 30 beds available. Candidates should demonstrate strong skills in managing critically ill patients and emergent situations. Availability to cover minimum weekend shifts is required. Successful candidates will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills.
