Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience preferred License: Must have a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - 2 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred - Epic experience required - Previous travel experience preferred Description: Weekdays and some weekends are required. Rotating holidays are part of the schedule. Staff may be required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity. Estimated patient ratios are 1:1-2. Skills required include IV start, telemetry, ventilator management, and Swans. Experience with conscious sedation, balloon pumps, and pulmonary artery lines is essential. Candidates must have the ability to manage patients on ECMO. The care of ventilated patients is a necessary skill. In addition, applicants should be familiar with managing central lines and monitoring central venous pressure. Nurses must interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias effectively. Emergency medication management is key in this role. Experience with post cardiac surgery patients is advantageous. Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips is required. The nursing team collaborates with various interdisciplinary support services. Patient diagnoses include cardiovascular conditions requiring intensive care. Skills needed for special procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and managing blood products are mandatory. The unit experiences a daily census of approximately 28 patients. Additional competencies may include managing chronic/acute renal failure and respiratory failure. The ideal candidate should have experience with critical care medical equipment. Nurses must adhere to infection prevention protocols. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in obtaining 12-lead ECGs and phlebotomy. Successful candidates will be expected to work a minimum of four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule block. References must include two professional recommendations, one from a supervisor or manager. Nurses applying must possess their license at the time of submission. Education must be from an accredited nursing program. Travelers should be aware of the urgency of the credentialing process.
