Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years CVICU experience required License: Wisconsin RN license required Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Experience and knowledge of CVVH machine required Basic Arrhythmia experience required Telemetry test must be passed prior to starting Description: This position involves day and night shifts, working 0700-1930 and 1900-0730. Every other weekend and some holidays are required, with no on-call responsibilities. Experience in cardiothoracic surgery and/or acuity adaptable areas is preferred. The role includes comprehensive care for patients requiring specialized cardiothoracic surgery and procedures. Nurses will provide care for patients post-surgery, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and heart and lung transplant. The unit requires familiarity with a variety of advanced medical equipment and techniques. Nurses will manage patient assignments, perform assessments, and provide critical, supportive care. Nurses typically care for 1-2 patients but may be assigned up to 3 patients if acuity is low. Interdisciplinary support is available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services. The unit operates with a focus on meeting patient and family needs with a commitment to clinical excellence. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation. A telemetry competency is required to maintain patient safety and quality care standards. The nursing team consists of care team leaders and support staff to ensure effective collaboration and patient management.
