Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience License: Active nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Current CVICU experience, CRRT, Impella, and IABP required. Must have travel experience. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. The unit provides care for critically ill patients with prior heart conditions. Patient care includes complex needs with life-threatening conditions. Invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring is performed. The age population served includes adult and geriatric patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 for initial recovery phase and 1 nurse to 2 patients on day one post-operative. Current certifications required are BLS and ACLS. TNCC certification is preferred. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including dopamine, Levophed, vaso, dobutamine, argatroban, amiodarone, Cardizem, heparin, insulin, Lasix, epinephrine, and neosynephrine. Charge Nurse primarily oversees operations without patient assignments. There is no nurse aid support on this unit. Respiratory Therapy is available as needed. Registered Nurses read cardiac strips; there are no dedicated monitor technicians. Shifts begin at 6:45 am or 6:45 pm. Every other weekend and rotational holiday work is required. Floating to other units may be necessary based on staffing needs. Nurses are required to wear solid color scrubs, with navy being typical for RNs. Appropriate footwear is required, with closed-toe shoes only. Two 12-hour orientation shifts with a preceptor will be completed. An initial skills checklist is due 90 days from the start date.
