Key Responsibilities of the Travel CVICU Registered Nurse:
- Provide high-acuity nursing care to post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
- Monitor and manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, evidence-based care
- Interpret cardiac rhythms, lab values, and hemodynamic data to guide interventions
- Administer medications and perform complex procedures in accordance with unit protocols
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in EMR systems
- Support patient and family education related to cardiac recovery and post-surgical care
Requirements of the Travel CVICU Registered Nurse:
- Active RN license (Illinois or compact state)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of recent CVICU RN experience in an acute care setting
- Strong cardiac monitoring, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Experience with post-cardiac surgery recovery and advanced hemodynamic support
