Job Title: CICU/CVICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: CVICU Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours (Nights: 19:00 - 07:30; Days: 07:00 - 19:30) Experience: 2 years required; will accept first-time travelers with strong skills/experience in CVICU License: RN state license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIH; CCRN preferred Must-Have: EOW (every other weekend) required Holidays may be required as scheduled Floating within the specialty may be required Description: The position requires experience in a cardiac intensive care unit. Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias. The RN will assist with advanced therapy workups, mechanical support devices, and other critical care interventions. Special procedures include bedside central/A-line insertions and bronchoscopies. The RN will monitor patients with complex medical needs, ensuring delivery of high-quality care. An understanding of various types of cardiac monitoring and procedures is crucial. Experience with specific equipment such as Impella, VAD, IABP, and CRRT is preferred. Patient ratios may be 1:1 for critical patients, with up to 3 for stable, lower acuity patients. Team collaboration with respiratory services, phlebotomy, pharmacy, and social services is essential. The RN must be comfortable with floating duties within the ICU as needed. Candidates should have proficient skills in managing ventilated patients and administering emergency medications. Documentation experience in electronic health records is required.
