Job Title: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular ICU Duration: Permanent Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in CVICU or critical care License: Current RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required Must-Have: Recent open heart recovery nurse experience; trained to care for immediate post-operative open heart patients Description: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse for a 10-bed unit. Experience in open heart recovery is required. Trained to care for immediate post-operative open heart patients on the first day. The facility has 36 licensed inpatient beds and 10 ICU beds. Expanding cardiac services for higher acuity patients. Need for critical care trained nurses. Permanent placement with a negotiable salary wage range. Great team dynamics. Receives direction from providers, charge nurse, ICU director, and CNO. Gives direction to LPNs, CNAs, housekeeping staff, and dietary staff. Works cooperatively with providers, healthcare professionals, and allied health staff. Provides care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in a cardiac medical surgical unit. This includes providing physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients. Anticipated patient populations may include pediatrics, pre and post PCI care, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and various surgical services. Staff will expect patients in relative stability while recognizing that diagnoses may require skilled assessment and intervention tools for potential deteriorating conditions. Required to operate advanced medical equipment including central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, A-lines, multiple IVs, and patients requiring short-term ventilation support. Responsible for care of general medical and surgical patients on the inpatient unit. Ability to assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision. Acts as a clinical leader and assists with precepting staff. Provides direct care for patients from admission to discharge, including discharge planning. Education includes a high school diploma or equivalent and a degree from an accredited nursing program. Knowledge of advanced nursing principles and procedures, with critical care, CVICU, and open heart experience preferred. Skills include use of basic office equipment, operation of advanced medical equipment, and basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation. Recent critical care experience is preferred.
