Travel Nurse RN - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit - $2,563 per week in Towson, MD

CVICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years required; will accept travelers with CVICU experience and immediate open heart post-op experience. License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIH preferred; OCN and TNCC preferred Must-Have: Must have experience with direct care of open heart patients immediately post-op. Description: The CVICU Registered Nurse provides nursing care for patients post-cardiac surgery, including CABG, MVR, and AVR. They manage a variety of complex cardiovascular conditions, including re-admissions and patients experiencing cardiogenic shock. The unit has a small average daily census, allowing for close monitoring and individualized patient care. Responsibilities include administering inotropic medications, managing hemodynamic instability, and actively monitoring cardiac output. The nurse will care for patients who may require advanced interventions such as ECMO, CRRT, and IABP support. The CVICU RN will be part of a multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive care and support to patients and their families. Additionally, nurses are required to be flexible in scheduling, including weekends and holidays, based on unit needs. Floating to other intensive care areas may be required as necessary. Continuous education and adherence to clinical protocols are essential in this role to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position also requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
