Schedule: 48 hours/week

  • Large, high-acuity cardiovascular program
❤️ Unit Details – CVICU
  • 22-bed Cardiovascular ICU
  • Average census: ~20 patients/day
  • High-acuity cardiac critical care environment
  • Minimum 1 year CVICU experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted (with CVICU background)
‍⚕️ Patient Population / Diagnoses
  • Post-operative cardiac surgery patients:
    • CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
    • Valve repair/replacement
  • Advanced cardiac support:
    • Impella
    • IABP
    • LVAD
    • ECMO
  • Thoracic aortic aneurysms
  • Complex medical cardiac ICU patients
Patient Ratios
  • RN: 1:2
  • CNA: 1:20
Requirements
  • Active RN License
  • Minimum 1 year CVICU experience
  • Certifications:
    • BLS
    • ACLS
    • NIHSS
  • CCRN preferred
Required Skills
  • Post-operative cardiac assessment
  • Management of circulatory support devices:
    • IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO
  • Hemodynamic monitoring & waveform interpretation
  • Titration of vasoactive & antiarrhythmic drips
  • Critical care decision-making in high-acuity settings
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
Support Staff
  • CNA: ADLs, vitals, blood glucose, transport
  • Unit Receptionist: 24/7 coverage
  • Charge Nurse: Yes (may take assignment)
  • Phlebotomy: Nurse-drawn labs
  • Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 dedicated to CVICU
  • Intensivist: 24/7 coverage
Technology
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pumps: Alaris
  • Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitoring: Phillips
  • Specialized Equipment: CRRT (NxStage)
Floating Requirements
  • Required to float within critical care units as needed:
    • Progressive Care Unit (PCU): Ratio 1:3
    • MedSurg: Ratio 1:4

  • 2–3 days unit/department-specific orientation
