- Capability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Description:
The unit has 20 beds, all private and monitored.
Nurse-to-patient ratios vary between 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1 depending on patient acuity.
Common diagnoses include post-open heart surgical patients, CABG, valves, dissections, vascular procedures, STEMI, and unstable angina.
Experience with specialty intervention equipment is essential, including IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, and ECMO.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate multiple drips, including but not limited to dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, and propofol.
Charge nurses and house supervisors are available 24/7.
Patient care techs are present, with a typical ratio ranging from 1:12 to 1:15.
Providers are on call, with support from advanced practice professionals.
Respiratory therapists are available 24/7.
RNs are expected to read and interpret their own strips; however, monitor techs are also available for support.
There are scheduled shifts of 12 hours with every other weekend and holiday requirements.
Travelers are expected to float to every level of care and take a full patient assignment.
The unit seeks someone proficient in cardiovascular ICU procedures and patient care.
Cancellation policies allow for cancellations with specific notice.
Charting is conducted using the EPIC system.
