Travel Nurse RN - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit - $2,758 per week in Peoria, IL

Description: The unit has 20 beds, all private and monitored. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 depending on patient acuity. Common types of patients include post open-heart surgical patients and cardiovascular procedures. Frequent diagnoses include CABG, valve surgeries, dissections, and STEMI. Specialty intervention equipment includes IABPs, Impellas, and ECMO. RNs are expected to titrate various IV drips such as dopamine, levophed, and insulin. Charge nurses are present 24/7 and may take on patient assignments. Patient care techs are available, with varying ratios depending on staffing. Providers are present in the ICU most of the time, with on-call coverage available. Respiratory therapists are available around the clock. All patients are connected to Philips monitoring, and RNs must read and interpret their strips. Shifts are 12 hours, and weekend work is required every other weekend. Floating to different levels of care is expected for staff. Scrubs should be appropriate in appearance and clean; no specific color is mandated. The unit seeks individuals proficient in cardiovascular ICU components. Experiences with swan ganz, CVC, art lines, and temporary pacemakers are essential. The unit frequently cares for ventilated patients requiring multiple interventions.
