Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: 2 years Critical Care experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Management of vasoactive medications, various surgical drains, chest tubes, ventilators, CRRT, invasive lines, including arterial lines, PA catheters, transvenous pacemakers, management of invasive devices, including IABP, Impella (preferred) Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiovascular Intensive Care. The unit has 14 private rooms, including two negative pressure rooms. Patient types and common diagnoses include STEMI (unstable), cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and various thoracic surgeries, including CABG, valve procedures, and dissections. The patient ratio is RN: 1:2. The facility requires BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. Critical skills necessary for this role include the management of vasoactive medications, surgical drains, chest tubes, ventilators, and CRRT. Nurses will also need experience with invasive lines and devices. Support within the department may include a charge nurse who may or may not have a patient assignment. The available technology includes electronic medical records and various medical equipment. The position involves potential floating within a specified region and scope of practice. Weekend rotations will be scheduled every other week. Holiday expectations include working 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to six days, excluding holidays. Shifts are from 0645 to 1915 and 1845 to 0715. The schedule cycle will occur every six weeks. Scrub color required for this position is navy.
