Description:
The facility has 457 licensed beds and is a Trauma Level III teaching hospital.
It is recognized as a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence.
The unit comprises 14 private rooms, including two negative pressure rooms.
Patients will include those with STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and those undergoing thoracic surgery.
The unit will take care of fresh open hearts and procedures include CABG, valve repairs, and dissections.
Staffing ratios are RN to patient 1:2.
Required skills include management of vasoactive medications, various surgical drains, chest tubes, and ventilators.
Experience with invasive lines such as arterial lines, PA catheters, and transvenous pacemakers is necessary.
Management of invasive devices like IABP and Impella is strongly preferred.
Continuous support is available, including a charge nurse who may or may not have patient assignments.
There is a dedicated Respiratory Therapy team available 24/7 and an intensivist on-site 24/7.
The technology in use includes an electronic medical record system and various medical equipment such as IV pumps and monitors.
Flexibility is required as travelers may float to different nursing units based on patient care needs.
Travelers will be expected to adapt and provide care within their scope of practice across units.
Weekend rotations are required every other weekend, with no on-call expectations.
Travelers will work 75% of holidays and may request up to 6 days off during the contract period, excluding holidays.
The shift cycle operates every 6 weeks, with specific shift times outlined.
Scrub color is navy.
