Schedule / Job TypeContract | 16 Weeks | 3x12-Hour Rotating Days/Nights (07:00–19:30 / 19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays Required as Scheduled
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a cardiovascular/cardiac intensive care unit serving adult and geriatric populations with a census of up to 15 beds and an average daily census of 10
- Manage a 1:1 patient ratio, with the possibility of up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients
- Care for patients presenting with diagnoses including cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, MI, pulmonary hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and hypertensive urgency/emergency
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Impella, IABP, VAD, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
- Assist with or support bedside procedures including central line and A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
- Float within specialty and to ICU or lower-acuity units as needed
Required Qualifications- Active Maryland RN license or active Compact RN license at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU or CICU experience; first-time travelers considered with strong CVICU background including IABP and Impella experience
- Current BLS certification (AHA only)
- Current ACLS certification (AHA only)
- CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version is the only acceptable online vendor)
- NIHSS certification
Preferred Experience / Skills- CCRN certification
- Experience with advanced cardiac therapies including LVAD workups and heart transplant evaluations
- Familiarity with mechanical circulatory support devices and targeted temperature management protocols
