Provide direct patient care in a 10-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit, including immediate post-operative open heart recovery patients from admission through discharge
Care for hemodynamically stable and unstable patients across a broad scope of diagnoses including pre and post PCI, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, and sepsis
Operate advanced medical equipment including central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, A-lines, continuous bladder irrigation, multiple IV pumps, and short-term ventilatory support (noninvasive and invasive)
Perform skilled cardiac telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation, with the ability to recognize and intervene in deteriorating patient conditions
Assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision; act as a clinical leader and assist with precepting staff
Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, LPNs, CNAs, and allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural patient support
Required Qualifications
Current State of Montana RN licensure required
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
Recent open heart recovery nursing experience required — must be trained to care for immediate post-operative open heart patients on day one
Recent critical care experience required
Degree from an accredited nursing program
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior CVICU experience strongly preferred
Advanced knowledge of critical care nursing principles and procedures
Experience with higher-acuity cardiac patients and expanding cardiac service lines
