Registered Nurse – CVICU

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Weekdays and Weekends | 13-Week Contract with Possible Extension

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to CVICU patients, including fresh open-heart surgery admissions from the OR
  • Perform hemodynamic and pressure monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheter management
  • Monitor and manage Impella devices and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Perform and interpret Activated Clotting Time (ACT) testing
  • Maintain a patient ratio of 1:2, with flexibility for step-down level overflow patients based on acuity
  • Document all patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with demonstrated CVICU or cardiac surgery experience
  • Activated Clotting Time (ACT) experience required
  • Experience with direct open-heart admissions from the OR, cardiac surgery skills, Swan-Ganz management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT required
  • Active WV RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending license accepted at time of submission)
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications (BLS and ACLS must be through the American Heart Association)
  • Permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility (candidates between 75–100 miles considered on a case-by-case basis)
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior travel nursing experience
  • Proficiency with Cerner EMR
  • Experience managing high-acuity cardiac patients in a step-down overflow capacity
