Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a Cardiovascular ICU setting with a 1:1–2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Manage a complex patient mix including fresh post-operative open heart patients, ventilated patients, and patients with chest tubes and lumbar drains
- Care for patients with chronic and acute renal failure utilizing advanced monitoring and support devices
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Impella, IABP, CRRT (Prismax), Swan catheters, Flotrack, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tubes
- Support post-operative recovery for open heart procedures including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
- Float as required to all ICUs, PACU, ED (ICU holding patients), and IMC units
Required Qualifications- Minimum of 2 years of current CVICU experience (SICU experience with CVICU training may be considered)
- Active New Jersey RN license or valid Compact license required at time of submission
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required at time of submission
- Demonstrated experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax, or experience with fresh open heart cases
- Proficiency with post-operative open heart recovery, Swan catheters, Flotrack, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tubes
- Availability to work every other weekend and holidays as applicable; must be available for 2 of 3 designated holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers are accepted
- Experience with a broad range of ICU patient populations and the ability to adapt to varying acuity levels when floating
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system
