Registered Nurse (RN) – CVICU
Location
Omaha, NE
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days (06:30–18:30) and Nights (18:30–06:30) available | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holidays every other or as needed per unit needs
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Cardiovascular ICU with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
Care for post-operative open heart, complex thoracic, and vascular surgery patients, including those supported by Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO
Titrate vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmic drips as ordered
Independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips without the support of monitor technicians
Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices
Float to all inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity and NICU
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure in good standing
Minimum 1 year of experience with CVICU or equivalent cardiovascular/critical care patient population
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Ability to titrate drips and manage hemodynamically complex patients
Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac monitoring strips
Must comply with facility fingernail policy — artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with advanced cardiac support devices including Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO
Familiarity with post-operative care for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients including EVARs, carotids, and lytic cases
Experience supporting patients from cath lab, structural heart, EP lab, or emergency settings
