Registered Nurse – CVICU

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7p–7a) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed, all-private, fully monitored cardiovascular ICU with patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 based on acuity
  • Care for a complex patient population including post open-heart surgical patients (CABG, valve, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures), STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, severe heart failure, TAVRs, ventilated patients, and ICU overflow patients
  • Manage and titrate multiple vasoactive and sedation drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epinephrine, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, midazolam, insulin, heparin, and esmolol, among others
  • Operate and troubleshoot specialty intervention equipment including IABPs, Impellas, Swan-Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT; manage lines including PICC, midlines, CVCs, arterial lines (radial and femoral)
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and monitor strips independently using Philips monitoring systems
  • Float to all levels of care as needed and assume a full patient team assignment
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN licensure
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent, continuous CVICU experience
  • BLS certification required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with cardiovascular ICU equipment including swans, arterial lines, CVCs, temporary pacemakers, IABPs, and ventilators
  • Ability to titrate multiple drips simultaneously and manage high-acuity patients independently from day one
  • Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • ACLS certification preferred; CCRN designation a plus
  • Experience with immediate post-operative cardiac surgical patients
  • Familiarity with VAD management and/or cardiac transplant patient care
  • Experience with nitric oxide, CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high-flow oxygen therapy
