    Job Title

    Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Vascular ICU / Acute Cardiac Intermediate Unit

    Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed, fully monitored, private-room Acute Cardiac Intermediate Unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 to 1:4 depending on acuity
    • Manage and titrate multiple vasoactive, sedation, and specialty drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epinephrine, vasopressin, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, esmolol, and others per protocol or physician order
    • Monitor, read, and independently interpret cardiac telemetry strips on all patients using Philips monitoring systems
    • Manage and troubleshoot specialty lines and equipment including Swan-Ganz catheters, external/temporary pacemakers, IABPs, arterial lines (radial and femoral), PICC lines, midlines, and CVCs
    • Care for a complex patient population including stepdown cardiac patients, TAVR, ablation, Watchman procedure, Micra, Mitral Clip, heart failure, trached and ventilated patients, and EP patients
    • Float to all levels of care as needed, including up to the ICU, and assume a full patient team assignment
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
    • Minimum of 2 years of CVICU or Cardiac ICU experience; candidates must be able to function independently from day one without unit-specific clinical training
    • Current BLS certification
    • Proficiency with cardiovascular ICU components including Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, CVCs, temporary pacemakers, IABPs, and ventilated/trached patients
    • Demonstrated ability to titrate multiple drips simultaneously and interpret cardiac strips independently
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and time management skills
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • ACLS certification preferred; CCRN or PCCN designation a plus
    • Experience with immediate post-operative cardiac surgical patients
    • Background with VAD management or cardiac transplant care
    • Continued travel nursing experience with ICU-level assignments
