Registered Nurse – CVICU

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7 on / 7 off

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a 12-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit managing patients with diagnoses including AMI, CAD, and PVD
  • Titrate vasoactive and sedation drips including Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Propofol, Dexmedetomidine, Insulin, Cardene, and others per physician orders
  • Operate and monitor advanced hemodynamic support devices including IABP and CRRT; provide care for fresh open-heart surgery patients arriving from the OR
  • Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently using in-room Nihon Kohden monitoring systems
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity, collaborating with in-house Intensivists and Respiratory Therapy
  • Float as needed to ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, and Telemetry units across both campuses based on department skill needs
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN licensure in good standing
  • Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract signing
  • Experience with IABP, CRRT, and fresh post-operative open-heart surgery patients
  • Ability to meet weekend requirement of 2 weekend shifts per pay period and fulfill holiday and on-call/standby obligations per contract
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Impella device experience
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records
  • Familiarity with respiratory equipment including ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, and high-flow oxygen systems
