Work days are rotating based on an 8-week schedule.
Call requirements include 12 shifts, each shift being 12 hours within an 8-week schedule.
The unit has 8 cardiac operating rooms.
There are 7 cardiac surgeons on the team.
The number of cases performed per operative day ranges from 9 to 16.
Over 2000 cardiac cases are performed annually.
The cases include open and robotic cardiac surgeries.
The team is involved in heart failure and heart transplant procedures.
Each case typically requires 1 first assistant, unless a vein is needed from both femoral and radial sources.
