Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Clinical Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2 years License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: 2 years of experience Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who coordinates patient care delivery by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems. The RN develops and implements an individualized plan of care and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment. They assist patients in transitioning through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act. The RN is utilized in inpatient and outpatient departments with 24/7 staffing, including on-call staffing on off shifts. Examples include procedural areas such as GI Lab, Pain Management, Dialysis, Infusion Centers, and IV Services. Essential Functions of the Role: The RN uses clinical reasoning to conduct accurate clinical assessments. They identify and prioritize patient and family needs. The RN develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care, modifying the plan to meet clinical outcomes. The RN systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. They support evidence-based practice changes through research utilization. The RN participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives. Caring Practices: Creates a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families. They develop therapeutic relationships with patients and maintain appropriate boundaries. The RN aims to manage both emotional and physical pain, promoting comfort and healing. Response to Diversity: The RN recognizes and incorporates patients' and families' unique differences into individualized care plans. Advocacy and Moral Agency: They preserve and protect patient confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights. The RN creates plans reflecting patient values and goals and helps resolve ethical and clinical concerns. Facilitation of Learning: The RN facilitates learning for patients, families, and healthcare staff. They integrate appropriate education throughout the continuum of care. The RN assesses and documents learning needs and outcomes. Collaboration: Works collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement integrated plans of care. The RN is open and sensitive to all team members' contributions. They delegate tasks to appropriate staff and ensure timely follow-up. Systems Thinking: The RN uses strategies and available resources for problem-solving. They recognize limited resources and consider safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in care delivery. Professionalism: The RN improves nursing practice through participation in governance and decision-making. They participate in staffing processes from education and planning to evaluation. The RN identifies personal goals and commits to ongoing professional growth. They contribute to the professional development of peers and demonstrate a commitment to community service. Key Success Factors: Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards. Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing the provision of nursing care. Knowledge of medical terminology and principles of health promotion. Ability to communicate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing. Interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse range of individuals. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential. Ability to observe and communicate changes in patients’ medical conditions effectively. Ability to provide age-specific, quality, patient-centered care. General computer skills, including proficiency in electronic medical documentation and email.
