Job Title: RN - CVOR - Days Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10:45 AM - 9:45 PM (4 shifts) Experience: 2-3 years of open-heart circulating experience preferred License: RN - Reg Nurse or RN-COMPACT Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Current CPR certification - Experience in cardiovascular operating room - Excellent communication and organizational skills Description: Functions under the direction of the Department Manager and Clinical Coordinator. The Cardiovascular OR Specialty Nurse is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The nurse is responsible for providing patient care that is age appropriate and addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient and family/support system. The Cardiovascular OR Specialty Nurse is responsible for delivering patient care in complex, multiple problem, urgent, emergent, and life-saving situations. In addition, this nurse coordinates surgical suite activities, prioritizes, and directs the surgical team in emergent situations with ease. She participates and coordinates staff development and professional self-development. This nurse is a role model and team leader who assists others in performing their responsibilities of patient care and organizational support and is self-directed. Functions in a full-time position as a circulator or surgical tech during peak surgery hours. Weekday, weekend, and holiday call required. Some charge nurse responsibilities may be required. Coordinates delivery of perioperative patient care. Maintains a high level of patient safety. Collaborates with healthcare team members in planning patient care. Assumes responsibility for other duties as assigned. Promotes team spirit and positive work environment. Provides a supportive environment for students and staff. Serves as a professional role model. Acts as a liaison between physicians, patients, families, and staff. Supports fiscal accountability for human and material resources.
