Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:00 - 14:30 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Good critical thinking skills Excellent communication skills with interdepartmental team Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity patient area Description: This position requires critical care experience. Pre-op experience is a plus. You will be working in a unit with 4 beds. Patient ratios are 1:1. RN support is available from charge nurses, secretaries, and management. You will use equipment including monitoring systems and ultrasound. Documentation will be performed using a specific electronic system. Scheduling will mainly fall on weekdays in the early morning hours. On-call shifts may require staying late 1-2 times per week. Floating may occur within the scope of practice and experience. Advanced skills in ACLS are necessary for this role. Procedures performed in the unit include large-bore IV starts, hair removal, medication administration, and skin assessment. You will assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placements. Transporting patients to the OR, as well as assisting with induction, intubation, positioning, and skin prep, will be required.
