Job Title: Case Manager Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Utilization Management Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 3 years required, 5 years preferred License: Valid Nursing License Certifications: BLS; MAB Must-Have: - Acute Hospital experience - Admission Criteria knowledge - Care coordination skills - Concurrent Review experience - Ability to determine medical necessity per evidence-based guidelines - Discharge planning expertise - Needs assessment and ordering DME - Ability to create and manage a plan of care - Familiarity with InterQual criteria - Understanding of CMS guidelines - Knowledge of HIPAA regulations - Awareness of The Joint Commission/Core Measure/National Safety Goals Description: This position is for a Case Manager in the Emergency Department. Most services are offered within this unit. Pediatrics and newborns may be transferred to other facilities. Tertiary level care, including STEMI and neurology cases, will be transferred to higher-level care facilities. No trauma or burn cases will be managed. The average daily census is 15 patients, with 22 rooms and 34 beds available. A seasoned traveler is preferred, but first-time travelers with strong experience will also be considered. Every other weekend availability is required. Navy blue scrubs are required attire. Candidates must have experience in an acute hospital setting and understand admission criteria and concurrent reviews. Familiarity with determining medical necessity and the ability to coordinate care and discharge planning are essential. Experience with InterQual criteria, as well as adherence to CMS and HIPAA regulations, is necessary. The role entails working with diverse patient populations, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Interdisciplinary support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
