Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Day shift) with weekend coverage: at least 2 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule; Day shift

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform acute hospital case management and utilization review to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time
  • Conduct admission reviews and apply InterQual criteria to support utilization decisions
  • Coordinate care across the interdisciplinary team and partner with social services to streamline discharges
  • Manage a caseload (approximate daily census up to 20-22) and prioritize patient needs effectively
  • Complete computerized documentation in Epic to maintain accurate, timely patient records
  • Facilitate prior authorizations, needs assessments and orders for DME as part of discharge planning
  • Communicate clearly with patients, families and payer teams to support benefits eligibility and transitions of care
Qualifications
  • Valid California state license required; pending licenses accepted
  • Minimum 2 years acute care hospital inpatient case management experience, with current practice within the last 6 months
  • Hardstop: demonstrated knowledge of InterQual and Epic is required
  • Travel experience required—seasoned traveler preferred and able to work travel assignments
  • Weekend availability to meet department needs (at least 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
  • Experience with care coordination, admission reviews, discharge planning, prior authorizations and DME needs assessments
  • Computerized documentation experience is required
  • Comfort managing a caseload consistent with a 1:20 ratio and collaborating with social services
Knowledge & Skills
  • Acute hospital case management and utilization review expertise
  • InterQual criteria application and utilization management
  • Proficiency in Epic for charting and documentation
  • Care coordination and discharge planning skills
  • Experience with admission reviews and benefits eligibility
  • Prior authorizations and DME needs assessment
