Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: Relevant certifications as applicable Must-Have: RN General - NOT Dialysis or Mental Health nurse Description: Provides professional nursing care in a correctional facility. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans. Monitors restrained patients on a timely basis and provides immediate medical attention to emergencies. Administers first aid and arranges transportation to emergency services when necessary. Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff and trains and orients new employees. Responsible for all health care of bedridden patients. Evaluates care needed and rendered, and teaches health care principles. Administers medications, including narcotics, and performs direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures, including IV therapy, wound care, and CPR. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams. Directs healthcare staff and acts as a lead worker in the absence of higher-level nurses. Performs clerical tasks, such as documenting medications and treatments. Completes required reports and maintains inventory of controlled drugs and medical supplies. Arranges outpatient clinic appointments and performs administrative tasks. Serves as an instructor and participates in problem-solving teams or groups. Major Worker Characteristics: Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures and regulations.
