Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Valid Registered Nurse license Certifications: CPR certification preferred Must-Have: Strong professional nursing skills and ability to provide care in a correctional setting Description: Provides professional nursing care to patients in a state-operated facility. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans. Monitors patients under restraint on a timely basis and provides immediate medical attention in emergencies. Coordinates and participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff and trains new employees. Responsible for the health care of bedridden patients, including making rounds and evaluating care needs. Administers medications, including narcotics, and renders direct nursing care as needed. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams. Directs health care staff assigned to the area. Documents all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information. Completes required reports and maintains inventory of medications and equipment. Arranges for medical examinations and prescription refills as ordered by physicians. Performs administrative tasks and serves as a liaison within the organization. Conducts or attends meetings as required. Serves as an instructor or leader of problem-solving teams when needed.
