Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current Registered Nurse license Certifications: Relevant certifications preferred Must-Have: Experience in corrections or similar settings Description: Provides professional nursing care to individuals in a correctional facility or institution. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds, takes and records vital signs, and prepares and administers prescribed medications and ordered treatment plans. Monitors restrained patients on a timely basis and provides immediate medical attention in emergencies. If assigned, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of lower-level staff, including authority to approve or disapprove leave requests. Participates in staff development and education, reviews care plans written by staff, and trains and orients new employees. Responsible for all health care of bedridden patients, making rounds, evaluating care needed and rendered. Develops care plans, teaches health care principles, administers medication, and renders all direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures, including IV therapy, wound care, and dialysis. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams and directs healthcare staff assigned to the area. Assists physicians in diagnostic evaluations. Performs clerical tasks, charts and records all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information. Completes required reports, documents necessary information, and maintains an inventory of controlled drugs. Arranges for out-patient clinic appointments and performs administrative tasks as needed. Serves as a liaison within the organization, conducts and/or attends meetings, and may serve as an instructor. Serves as a member or leader of problem-solving teams or groups as required.
