Job Summary The organization is seeking an ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Cardiovascular Healthcare Professional in the state of Illinois. This role involves providing specialized care for patients with cardiovascular conditions in a fast-paced, monitored unit. The position requires a professional highly skilled in cardiovascular ICU practices, including management of complex patient populations such as those with heart failure, post-procedural care, and ventilated patients.
Job Details
Position Description: The ICU Cardiovascular unit is a 20-bed monitored unit focusing on stepdown patients from the adult heart unit intensive care unit, along with patients undergoing TAVRs, Ablations, Watchmen Procedures, Mitral Clips, and other cardiac interventions. Patients include those with heart failure, ventilated status, and overflow from other stepdowns including COVID-19 cases.
Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application has been initiated; BLS certification; minimum two years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, specifically in CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) or equivalent.
Schedule: Shifts are 12 hours, scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Additional Notes: The role involves working with advanced cardiovascular intervention equipment such as Swan Ganz catheter, external pacemakers, and various arterial and venous lines. RNs are expected to interpret EKG strips, manage ventilators, and titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, and vasopressors. The unit operates a 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor system, with staff expected to float across all levels of care and handle complex patient needs, including vented and trached patients. A one-day unit-specific orientation and two days with a preceptor are provided.
