Job Summary
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse position available in Towson, Maryland. This role involves providing specialized care to adult and geriatric postoperative cardiac surgery patients, including those with complex hemodynamic conditions such as open chest, ECMO, and Impella support. The assignment starts on August 24, 2026, and lasts for 14 weeks, with nights scheduled from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Job Details
- Location: Towson, Maryland
- Schedule: Nights, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Maryland RN license, BLS, CPI, ACLS certifications; 2 years of ICU Cardiovascular experience; experience with adult Geriatric patient population; proficiency with Epic charting system
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital or LTAC experience, trauma level II experience, travel experience
- Float: Required to Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) as needed
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Weekend Coverage: Every third weekend required, additional weekends as needed
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, OCN, PALS, TNCC
- Patient Care: Postoperative cardiac surgery (CABG, MVR, AVR), structural heart procedures (TAVR, mitral clips), STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, preoperative patients on intensivist service, ICU bounce-backs, cardiac re-admissions
- Special Procedures/Units: 1st 6 hours post-op with multiple inotropic medications, hemodynamic instability management, ECMO, CRRT, IABP, open chest management, high-acuity cardiac care
- Additional Activities: Handling complex equipment like intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella, and ventricular assist devices; managing ventilated and critically unstable patients
