Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 3 years of ICU experience with 1 year in CVICU and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the CVICU (Critical Care 7T) unit of a Level II Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital
• 30-bed unit caring for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients including post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs, heart transplants, pacemaker placements, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy, AAA repair, TVAR, and carotid endarterectomy
• RN patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2 for regular ICU status, or 1:3 for mixed status, with tech support at 1:8-10
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a), 36 or 48 hour contracts available
• Every other weekend rotation required
• 1-2 holidays required per contract
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU (1:3 ratio), Sitter duties, or PACU Surge
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors
• Bedside/nurses station telemetry monitoring without a dedicated tele tech
• 6-week scheduling cycle, provided 1-2 weeks prior to start

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, CCRN preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with at least 1 year of CVICU experience required
• Competency in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, a-lines), pacemaker management (epicardial, transvenous), chest tube care, cardiac medication administration (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with CV surgical specialties such as ECMO, CVVH, IABP, or VAD preferred
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Support team includes a charge nurse (rarely with patient assignment), 24/7 HUC, dedicated CVICU Intensivist, CT Surgeon on call, hospitalist, general Intensivist, and ICU-designated RT
• Phlebotomy team assists with peripheral blood draws; RNs draw from invasive lines only
• One day of orientation includes 2-4 hours of NEO with a supervisor or nurse educator, followed by unit placement with a preceptor
• Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting staff to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Scrubs must be a solid, professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking available with shuttle service for day shift and an attached parking structure for night shift
• First-time travelers considered if minimum experience requirements are met
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• RTO approval available for up to 7 days
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for this travel assignment
