CVICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CVICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This position requires a strong background in Cardiac Intensive Care, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care to adults and geriatrics. The ideal candidate will possess both clinical experience and a commitment to providing exceptional support to critically ill patients.

Contract Details

• Start Date: September 28, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
• Work Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
• Number of Rooms/Beds: 15
• Average Daily Census: 10 patients
• Patient Ratio: 1:1, up to 3 with stable, lower acuity patients

Common Diagnoses

• Cardiogenic shock
• Cardiac arrest
• Heart failure
• Cardiac arrhythmias
• Myocardial infarction (MI)
• Pulmonary hypertension
• Advanced therapy workups (LVAD, heart transplants)
• Mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella)
• Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
• Hypertensive urgency/emergency

Responsibilities

• Perform bedside central and arterial line insertions
• Conduct bronchoscopy and chest tube insertions
• Manage Swan/PA catheter insertions
• Implement targeted temperature management
• Administer continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse state license
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Certification in CPI and NIH guidelines
• CCRN certification is preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers with strong CVICU experience welcome

• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) machines
• Ventilators
