Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU) position requiring a background in post-op cardiac surgery recovery and proficiency with advanced hemodynamic support technologies.

Details

  • 18-bed Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU) in a large academic hospital setting
  • Patient population includes post-cardiac surgery, cardiac transplant, lung transplant, ventricular assist device (VAD) placement, and other complex cardiothoracic procedures
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2
  • Rotating AM/PM 12-hour shifts (7A/7P rotation), with straight PM shifts also considered
  • Orientation is scheduled on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month
  • EMR: Epic (preferred, not required)
  • 15-week contract

Requirements

  • Active MD or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Critical Care Certification preferred
  • Current experience recovering post-op cardiac surgery patients in an ICU setting required
  • Experience in a dedicated Open-Heart Unit receiving patients directly from the OR required
  • Proficiency with ventilator management, CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheters, epicardial wires/pacemakers, vasoactive drip titration, Level 1 IABP, and ECMO required
  • Experience at a 500+ bed facility required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • One professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive ICU-level care to patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgeries, including transplants and VAD placements
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Candidates must be strong clinical matches for this high-acuity, large academic medical center environment
